FLOWER FESTIVAL: From September 30 to October 2, there is a Flower Festival celebrating Village Life at All Saints Church Herstmonceux from 11am to 4pm on Saturday and 12.30pm to 4pm on Sunday.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING: The Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will take place this year on September 30 between 11am and 1pm at the Reid Hall in Boreham Street. Last year this village event raised a staggering £1407. Along with coffee and cakes there will be stalls selling handmade items and a Grand Raffle. Entrance is by donation and if you would to book a stall please contact 07951 019660.

LOCAL HISTORY GROUP: Alan Brown and Vivien Bowles of The Wartling and Herstmonceux Local History Group have produced two new books. Tell Me A Story Grandpa is all about the Parish of Wartling and Tell Me A Story Grandma is all about the Parish of Herstmonceux. Both cover various tales, and also include notable local residents and a few of the older properties. All in full colour, and costing £9.95 each. The group has also produced a calendar for 2017 priced at £6.50. It includes old local views. All proceeds from the sale of these publications go to the Wartling and the Herstmonceux Churches Building and Maintenance Funds.

There is a Local History Exhibition which this year will be held at the Horseshoe Inn, Windmill Hill. The new owners and new manager, Gareth, are very interested in the local community. This is on Saturday October 15 from 1.30pm to 5.30pm and covers Wartling, Boreham Street, Windmill Hill, Bodle Street Green, Cowbeech, Herstmonceux, Magham Down, Ninfield, Hooe, Pevensey, Westham, Hankham, Pevensey Bay, Pevensey Levels, RAF Wartling and RAF Pevensey, Normans Bay, Little Common, and Cooden. Entry is £4 (under 16s free). There will be over 400 old photographs, documents and maps, family history, local crafts, books, postcards, bar and refreshments.

SUNDAY SERVICES: All Saints: 8am Holy Communion (BCP). St Mary Magdalene, Wartling: 11am Harvest Festival.

COFFEE MORNINGS: There are Vitality Village Coffee mornings every third Monday of the month 10am to noon at the Health Centre (HIHC). Everyone welcome, listen to different speakers every month, enjoy a cup of tea, healthy snack homemade snack (truly delicious no matter what they say), book discussion and a quiz.
