Waiting lists were in place for each section and the dedication of leaders, assistants and parents enabled the success to continue in its 86th year.

During the year, grants had been received from the Royal Navy and Felpham Parish Council to enable a replacement engine to be obtained for the rigid inflatable boat so that sailing can continue safely.

This was among the many activities in which Beavers, Cubs and Scouts had taken part. The others ranged from weekly meetings to hikes and camps. They also included several events to mark the centenary of Scouting.

The Beavers enjoyed many visits and earned several badges including the experiment, healthy eating, adventure and safety badges.

They also took part in a sponsored 'Knotathon' and raised more than 300 for the RNLI.

Chief Scout Bronze Awards were awarded to Matthew Bishop, Holly Lewis, Jake Aldis-Hobbs and Jake Evans.

The two cub packs continued to thrive with lots of varied activities. The centenary camp at the Spur campsite was probably the wettest camp ever but the daytime activities all took place.

Several cubs completed the cyclist badge and 44 travelled to London to visit HMS Belfast and the London Eye. Wednesday Cubs won the district football tournament with Monday Cubs as runners up. The Cubs have earned the emergency aid, my faith and creative awards and 12 cubs were awarded their 5 hikes away badges.

Five cubs gained their Chief Scout Silver Awards during the year. These were Matthew Embleton, Ed Baker, Gabriel Hooton and Alex Wyatt.

The Scout troop had another busy and energetic year. This included the annual camp at South Harting where pioneering skills were practised. Eleven Scouts attended the HMS Bristol summer camp joining in with kayaking, power boating and hiking on the South Downs. The troop took several prizes at the RN swimming gala.

The sailing season saw full use of the fleet but sessions were sadly reduced because of the frequent poor weather.
