High Standards at Autumn Show

Iden and Playden Garden Society’s Autumn Show continued its traditional high standards across all sections.

It was pleasing to see an excellent display of fruit and vegetables after the miserable weather decimated the section at the earlier shows this year.

The colourful displays of late garden flowers helped the show year end on a high.

The imaginative Floral Art classes, as ever, drew much attention from visitors who were also amused by the “Funny Vegetable Animals” Class.

The Daphne Lightfoot Cup (most points for Dahlias) was won by Janet Johnson; the Park Farm Cup (best vase Dahlias) went to Trish Evans and the

Elms Vase (most points Floral Arts) to Janet Johnson who also won the Albert Cup for photography.

The Raffle Trophy (best Pot Plant) was won by Rev and Mrs Geoffrey Scott and the Tate Cup (best in Vegetable Section) by Jenny Robinson.

Yvonne Metcalf won Mrs John Roberts Plate (most points in Domestic Classes) Oxenbridge Cup (Novelty) went to Gwyneth Parsons.

The Herringfield Trophy (most points over all) was won by Trish Evans.

The Brian Hargreaves Tankard (Aggregate points over the three Shows for Miniature Floral Art) was retained for the second year by Gwyneth Parsons.
