High winds cause havok across county

MOTORISTS have been urged to steer clear of coastal roads today (Monday, November 8).

Sussex Police have said that all drivers, especially those of high-sided vehicles, needed to take extra care on costal or exposed hilly roads, avoiding them if possible, until the high winds die down.

A spokesman said; “We have so far had more than thirty reports of incidents including trees being blown into roads.

“There have been no serious collisions or injuries, but driving conditions are currently bad. Avoid exposed coastal routes and hills if at all possible for the time being.”
