Hollyoaks actors get set for Chichester’s first colour run

St Wilfrids Hospice mascot Wise Wilf is taking part inthe Colour Run

On Sunday, November 1, hundreds of people will take part in the St Wilfrid’s Hospice Colour Run, a sponsored walk, jog or run during which participants are showered with multi-coloured powder paint along the way.

Joining them will be Danny Mac and Carley Stenson, who played Mark ‘Dodger’ Savage and Steph Cunningham in Hollyoaks.

The run is the first of its kind in Chichester and throughout the untimed race, participants are doused from head to toe in different coloured powder (environmentally friendly corn starch) along the route.

Taking place around the grounds of Chichester College, participants can choose between a 2k, 5k or 10k distance.

Also taking part in the run is ‘Wise Wilf’, the hospice mascot.

Wise Wilf has a fundraising target of £2,000.

Danny, who grew up in Bognor Regis, is an enthusiastic supporter of St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Donnington.

His mum, Jan, has been a nurse at the hospice for more than 13 years.

Danny said: “Because my mum works there, I get a real inside view of the hospice and can really appreciate the incredible work the nurses do, looking after people in the last phase of their lives.

“The reality of daily life in a hospice is often a far cry from the public’s perception; these days it’s much more about supporting and enabling patients to live the best lives they can.”
