Homegrown herbs will be a tasty extra for Bognor students
The culinary enhancements are to be grown in the new allotments created at the University of Chichester’s site.
The university’s catering supplier, Aramark, is to rent one of the 14 plots to grow its own produce. The company aims to use it to grow all the herbs needed for meals served on the campus.

The university’s environment officer, Maggie Field, said: “The allotments are a fantastic opportunity for staff and students to get involved in their environment in a hands-on way.”
It is also intended to share the benefit of the allotments with the community. They will form part of an initiative with local schools to teach children about the dig for victory campaign in the second world war.
They will be used along with an air raid shelter which has survived on the campus to provide real-life examples of living on the home front during the conflict.
The allotments were officially opened by the university’s deputy vice-chancellor for resources and green champion, Ian Child.
