Horsham air cadets tour revamped Gatwick Aviation Museum

Air Cadets from Horsham have had the unique opportunity to visit the newly opened Gatwick Aviation Museum.

The cadets enjoyed the unique opportunity to have a private tour of the large selection of aircraft on display with volunteers educating them as they walked around.

The wide selection of Aircraft included a Harrier GR3, Hunter T7 and the well preserved Avro Shackleton where cadets had the chance to sit in the flight deck.

The museum has recently reopened after being rebuilt and is open Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Museum trustee John Tickner said: “We are here to inspire children into a future in aviation – especially into flying and engineering.

“We are glad to see that the cadets enjoyed themselves during the evening and I hope that the learned a lot about the great aircraft we have on display.”

Squadron officer of 1015 (Horsham) Air Cadets, Flying Officer Richard Foster said: “We have a lot of cadets that are really keen in a career in aviation and tonight has been a great information evening for them.”
