This year five month old Lily was pushed round the course by Jess.

Since the event in May their sponsorship has soared to £10,200.

Trish said: “Our family has been hit hard by cancer so we wanted to do what we could, helping more survive.

“To this end, rather than continually ask the same people to sponsor us, I sell donations on eBay and Facebook, with the odd fund raising event. I also volunteer at the Cancer Research charity shop in East Street.

“Friends and family have given us great support and we would like to thank everyone.’’

They have supported Cancer Research UK since they started seeing how several family members have struggled with the disease in recent years.

Their most recent event was the Horsham Race for Life and the beginning of June

Trish continued: “My son-in-law, at the age of 29, was diagnosed with testicular cancer and his mother with breast cancer in the same week, November 2007. Both of them with operations and chemo beat the battle and have now been cleared; both survived.

“My mother suffered with various types of cancer over the years and finally died in 2005.My father died at the young age of 52 with a type of cancer that today is one of the most treatable.

“My daughter is so thankful to still have her husband, the father of four lovely girls that she decided to do something to help others survive.

“It is for this reason that we want to raise as much as we can for Cancer Research, without which many would not be here today.”
