Horsham hustings to hear election candidates views’ on countryside

Organised by the Campaign to Protect Rural England’s Sussex branch the free event will be focusing on what each of the candidates will be doing for the district’s countryside and questioning them on their party’s policies.

It starts at 10am and is at the Drill Hall in Denne Road.

David Johnson, chairman of CPRE Sussex, said: “This event is an excellent opportunity to ask our political parties their views on rural development.

“The lack of robust planning law to prioritise brownfield sites over greenfield, is of national importance. The candidates’ answers will be indicative of post election policy at a national level. These are planning policies that will affect us all.”

Members of the public will be able to ask questions of UKIP’s Roger Arthur, Labour’s Martyn Davis, Frances Haigh leader of the Lib Dem Group at Horsham District Council (as her party has not yet announced its parliamentary candidate), the Conservative’s Jeremy Quin, independent Jim Rae, and James Smith of the Something New for Horsham Party.
