Hospice celebrates £446,000 grant

WORTHING hospice, St Barnabas House, is celebrating after receiving news that it has been awarded a major grant of £446,000 from the Department of Health.

The funding will be used for the hospice's planned rebuild due to commence next year on a site close to the existing hospice in Worthing. The current building is coming towards the end of its life and, with the changes in hospice care over the past 34 years since the hospice was built, a brand new hospice is desperately needed to continue providing the specialist palliative care for which St Barnabas is known.

Said Chief Executive, Hugh Lowson, "We are immensely grateful for this major award which will go towards the cost of providing a brand new landmark building more appropriate for hospice care in the 21st century.
