House in Burwash is struck by lightning

Firefighters were called out to Burwash after a house was struck by lightning on Wednesday evening (June 22).

Crews from Burwash and Heathfield Fire Stations raced to the scene in Heathfield Road shortly before 8.40pm.

The lightning strike affected two properties, causing structural damage to the roof.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to survey the scene, but luckily there was no fire.

Firefighters then carried out salvage work due to flooding and damage to the roof.
