Housing association has ‘made me ill’ says Tangmere resident

A Tangmere mother-of-three claims she has suffered from health problems after her housing association left her ‘without heating for seven weeks’.

Theresa Gould has lived in Campbell Road, Tangmere, for eight years.

Theresa, who lives in the house with her partner and three children aged four, ten and 12, says her housing association, A2Dominion, has failed in its upkeep of her property.

“A2Dominion has kept its newer properties up to scratch but hasn’t touched our house for years,” 
said Theresa.

“I have been putting up with it for eight years now.

“And I have been without heating for seven weeks.

“The windows are diabolical – there are holes and mould in the frames.

“I am unhappy about the general upkeep – the property has just been left to fall apart.

“When we moved in we were due to have a new kitchen but nothing was done about it.

“If we were in rent arrears I could understand it, but I always pay my rent.

“I have colitis which is flaring up because of the stress of it.”

John Turner, A2Dominion’s assistant director of property services, said: “We regret that Ms Gould has had to report a number of recent repair issues at her home on Campbell Road in Tangmere.

“We have already completed work to replace the radiators at the property, which took two days to complete.

“At no point was Ms Gould without heating or hot water before or during this time.

“These works followed a routine 24-hour repair visit to the property during which our contractors concluded the radiators should be replaced due to their inefficiency.

“An additional radiator will be fitted on November 26 to further improve the efficiency of the heating within the property.

“Since 2013 we have completed a total of 16 repairs at Ms Gould’s property.

“These have included repairing a damaged window frame, fixing a leak in the kitchen and tackling instances of mould.

“Over the next few years, planned works to Ms Gould’s home will include a replacement kitchen, a new boiler and external decorations.

“We would like to thank Ms Gould for her patience during these repairs, and would like to reassure her that we will always work as quickly as possible to resolve any problems at her property.”
