HUNT STEPPED UP FOR CONMEN

Police have issued an e-fit following a bogus caller who made off with around £300 in cash.

At 2pm on Monday, May 15, a man knocked on the door of an elderly resident in Greenwich Road, Hailsham, and told her that there was a problem with her drains. The male entered the kitchen and turned the taps on and left them running. When he left the house the lady saw another male coming out of her bedroom. She later found that 300 cash had been stolen from her purse in the bedroom.

Local residents are advised to be extra vigilant when allowing door stop callers into their homes. Always ask and check an official ID card, or even telephone the company before letting them into your home.

Anyone who regonises the man or has any information is asked to contact PC Lloyd Lewis at Hailsham CID on 0845 60 60 999 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
