DANCE AT DANNY on Saturday 23 April in aid of the reMEmber charity, which raises funds for ME research and sufferers. There will be live music from the 60s for dancing to, from the Michael Gyverny Quintet, a cash bar will be available to quench the thirst and a raffle with posh prizes. HURSTPIERPOINT SOCIETY has their AGM on Saturday 23 April at 2pm. A short business meeting and the presentation of three Conservation and design Awards, will be followed by a talk by Maggie Henderson on the architecture and interesting history of the Mansion House, in the High Street. WOODLAND & FLORA & FAUNA GROUP meets at 8pm at the Village Centre on Tuesday 26 April for a talk by Steven Robinson, Warden of the Loder Valley Reserve. Everyone welcome and the entry is free.

LIKE TO PLAY BOWLS? Hurstpierpoint Bowls Club at South Avenue have two taster sessions for any one who has thought of playing bowls, but never got round to trying, on Wednesday 27 April 6pm to 7pm and on Saturday 30 April 11am to 12 noon. On offer are free six weeks membership, coaching and use of the equipment. Just turn up with enthusiasm and wearing flat soled shoes or trainers. More info from Anne Clifford on 01273 842770.

HURST OPEN GARDENS in aid of St Peter and St James Hospice will be happening again this year. The call has gone out for volunteers to come forward and open their gardens for this annual village event. It does not have to be immaculate, large or Chelsea Flower Show standard, any shape or size is welcome, and in fact the more varied the better, and new ones keep the event fresh. Last year, 8 were open and together with sales of plants and teas £5,000 was raised, and provided a fun day out. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED as well for the Community shop, to do 2 hour sessions weekly or fortnightly. The shop is such a useful part of the village, recycling donations to provide an endlessly varied supply of bargains, and funds raised find their way back into the village via supported projects. More hands are required to continue current opening hours.

ME:The charity reMEmber gives help and advice to people all over Sussex who suffer from the chronic illness ME, campaigns for better services and raises money for research. reMEmber is holding a fund raising event called “Good Rocking Tonight” at Danny House, Hurstpierpoint on Saturday 23 April starting at 7.30 pm.
