STOLEN: Trevor Evans Parade Marshal of behalf of the Royal British Legion Hurstpierpoint and Albourne Branch reports the white fencing which surrounds the crosses at the village War Memorial has been taken away without permission. Would the person or persons who removed the fencing please return it to the memorial or to the Parish Office.

COLOURING WORKSHOP: for adults at the library on Friday 11 March from 2pm to 3pm. This free session run by the illustrator Jan Barger, is for the artistic, the drawing minded or any one who wants to have a go. You will be inspired either to draw your own design or to colour one supplied, and all materials will be provided. Everyone welcome to go along and create.

HURST AFTERNOON CLUB: Tuesday 15 March at 2.15pm in the Village centre has Mike Cohen talking about Guide Dogs for the Blind. Visitors and new members welcome. Refreshments after.

HURSTPIERPOINT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY SPRING SHOW: Children’s Scarecrow Competition and Plant Sale The first show of the year is at 2.15pm on Saturday 19 March in the Village Hall. A large gathering of scarecrows is hoped for the Children’s Scarecrow Competition with prizes of £10, £5 and £2. The scarecrows will be judged by members of the public, as will the Photography (subject -‘Memories of Autumn’) and the Floral Art. There is also cookery, pre-school playgroup artwork, all the usual lovely spring flowers and the bargain Plant Sale. Tea and home-made cakes will be served. Raffle and auction at 4pm. Exhibiting is free, so do look out your photos, and encourage the children to be creative with all sorts of odd items and even try your hand at cookery or see what is flourishing in your garden.
