CHURCH NEWS: The 9.30am service this Sunday will be Parish Eucharist led by Rev. Malcolm Jones. We offer him a warm welcome. It is Rogation Sunday, when in past times the children walked around the Parish, Beating the Bounds led by the parson. Prayers are offered for God’s blessing on the first fruits of the earth and sea and on human labour. Monday 2nd is the saints day for Philip and James, Apostles. Thursday 5th is Ascension Day, and Friday 6th is St. John the Evangelist’s day.

LENT LUNCHES: This year the amount raised at the lunches was £420 donated to the following charities : St. Michael’s Hospice; MacMillan Nurses; Family Support Work; and the British Heart Foundation. Thank you to everyone who supported the Lent Lunches.

WEATHER: As already mentioned, it is cold now, brought about by the north east wind. When the sun IS out, it is quite strong. But having had a really mild winter with lots of plants getting going early, we now seem to be on hold with the growth in the gardens. Except for the pesky grass of course !

NEW PAVILION UPDATE: On 11th April at the Parish Council Meeting, it was agreed unanimously by the Councillors to allow the Icklesham Trust to move forward with the project. This is god news for the community. Thanks to the Parish Councillors and those who have given their support to the proposed project. The next stage is getting planning permission. QUIZ DATES: 10th September; 15th October; 12th November; 10th December; 21st January - Murder Mystery; 18th February; 18th March; 22nd April.

QUEEN’S HEAD: The live music on Sunday 1st May will be played by The Black Sheep Blues Band, playing from 4 until 6 pm. There will be a quiz on Wednesday 4th May starting at 8.30 pm. All proceeds will be in aid of St. Michael’s Hospice.

PLAYDEN WEEKEND: You might like to go to the arts and crafts exhibition in Playden Church, being held on Friday 6th May from 5 to 7 pm; Saturday 7th May from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday 8th May from 1 to 5 pm. Admission is free, and there are always lovely things to admire and/or purchase. Local artisans are especially featured.

SCHOOL NEWS: Cricket coaching is progressing well. Lily and Noah, as Learning Ambassadors represented the school at St. Leonards Academy and gave a short presentation on what they have learned and enjoyed this year. The results of the Parents and carer questionnaire have been published, with very positive results. The Head teacher Awards this week go to : caterpillars, Rosie; Spiders, Lola; Dragonflies, Solomon; Bees, Jensen. The class awards are as follows: Caterpillars, Barnaby and Daisie; Spiders, Max and Heidi; Dragonflies, Amy and Alice; Bees, Isabella and Tommy. Congratulations to everyone. Monday 2nd May is a Bank Holiday and school is closed.
