CHURCH NEWS: On Sunday 2nd August, the 10.30 am service will be Family Communion, including the Baptism of Ivy Sheriden Martin.

VILLAGE FETE AND FLOWER SHOW: This lovely event is a great opportunity for the village folk to really work together. More volunteers are needed to help set up, man stalls, and help to dismantle everything afterwards. You wouldn’t have to commit to being there all day by any means. An hour by LOTS of people would soon get the jobs done. Contact Sandra Stunt or Stuart Baker, or simply turn up ready and willing. Don’t leave it all to just a few hard working people. COME AND HELP. It opens to the public at 1 pm, so, setting up from 10.30 am. Entertainment will be provided by the Wealden Brass Band. There will be lots of stalls and attractions.

ICKLESHAM CASUALS FOOTBALL CLUB: The club is training for the new season, every Wednesday evening at the Recreation Ground, from 6.30 pm. The club, which runs two adult teams playing in divisions 2 and 5 of the East Sussex Football League as well as the Veterans side, was formed in 1937. it has a proud history which includes maintaining a reputation for playing sporting football, a reputation which remains today with the 2nd team, made up of very promising young local players, winning the East Sussex League Sportsmanship Trophy last season. The 1st team led the sportsmanship marks in their division. The veteran’s side were champions of the local Hastings Veteran’s League. If any local footballers are interested in joining a friendly village club, please come along to training or , if anyone is interested in offering assistance off the field, the club would love to hear from you. The address is [email protected] to contact the club.

ICKLESHAM TRUST: A message from Stuart : Firstly I would like to say how good the exterior of the Memorial Hall is looking - well done Mick Osborne !! It has been proposed that we do not put on a Fete next year. Instead , all of the fund raising for 2016 would be supporting The New Pavilion. As one of your village Representatives, I am willing to feed any of your opinions back to the committee at the next scheduled meeting on 28th September. If this proposal is approved, this could be an excellent opportunity for us all to show those who make decisions on our behalf, how passionate we are regarding a new build. The date of the Trust Committee AGM is Friday 11th December. Come along and support the New Pavilion Project, and raise any other concerns which you may have. There will be vacancies on the committee for a Chairman and Secretary, two prime posts. Let one of us know if you would be interested in being proposed for either. If you have an opinion about the proposal NOT to hold a Fete next year, MAKE SURE THAT YOU CONTACT STUART about it.

FUND RAISER: The Blakey’s will return to Icklesham on 5th September for a New Pavilion Fundraiser. Anyone who went to Stuart’s birthday party will remember the excellent night they put on. Please spread the word. Tickets are £5 each and available from Stuart. It is “bring your own drink.” There will be a raffle, therefore any prize donations would be appreciated.

WEATHER: Where did that thunderstorm last week end come from? The gardens will have benefited from the rain and also the flowers for the Show on Saturday - TOMORROW.

TOMORROW: Let’s all make sure that we get to the fete and Flower Show. It is a really fun event for the village - stalls, attractions, the Band, teas and exhibitions. Make a resolution to GO. and have a word with the weatherman about some lovely sunshine on the day.

ORGAN CONCERT: The next concert in the series at All saints Church, Hastings is on Monday 3rd August at 7.30 pm. The music will be played by Stephen Disley from Southwark Cathedral. Tickets are £8 at the door. Refreshments available. (I put this in because I organise the series.)
