A Church Market Thank You: Tomorrow Saturday 13 in the Parish Church from 11am until 12.30pm there’s a Thank You for everyone who helped or supported the monthly Church Markets. There will be coffee, mince pies and carol singing.

Robin Hood Bonfire Society: At the AGM of Icklesham Trust on Friday 5 December the Society gave its generous donations for 2014. A cheque for £100 was presented to each of the following; The Friends of Icklesham School, Pett Level Inshore rescue,Icklesham Trust, and the Winchelsea Beach and Icklesham Youth Club. However this year it was decided to donate £1000 to the New Pavilion Fund.

Icklesham Trust AGM; The Trust is responsible for both The Memorial Hall and the Pavilion and its committee has members representing all Ickleham’s clubs and societies and the village itself. All the recreation grounds in Icklesham Parish Council’s 4 wards are the responsibility of the Parish Council. From the Chair Corinne Merricks reminded those present that the Hall was built as a Memorial to the Icklesham men who were lost in the Great War . Just under a hundred years ago the village made a wise decision which the community benefits from almost daily. The Treasurer, Nick Warren,in his report said that income from Hall bookings was up 27%. The Hall was covered by insurance so the storm damage of last winter was covered. The Trust received a legacy of £2000 from the estate of Miss Jean Giddins. Jean lived in a bungalow on the corner of Oast House Field and Oast House Road. She had been a nurse working in Hastings Hospitals and during the war experienced much sadness serving on a Bomber Command base. She and her fellow nurse” Smudger” Smith retired to Icklesham. Jane was a regular bowls player. She always enjoyed events at the Hall. Stuart Baker reported on the progress of fundraising for the New Pavilion. The total Is now £10000. Excellent and regular contributions come from the Lottery and the Craft Fairs. The trust made a generous farewell gift to the current Village Voice who is retiring after writing the weekly news since early 1996. The gift will be used to purchase the soon to be published “Atlas of Sussex Butterflies.”

Village Quiz: Saturday 6 December’s event raised £380 to be shared equally between the Youth Club and Mums & Toddlers. 14 teams entered Empty Heads were overall winners closely followed by Stalybridge Celtic,Casualties,One Out All Out,Nobby’s Nuts,Team Name,Golden Arrows, Allsorts,Dangerous Brian,Fab 6,Mission Impossible,Friends and Family, High fords Hooligans and Saints and Sinners. Stuart Baker thanks everybody who helped - setting up,clearing up,selling raffle tickets, donating prizes plus little helper Marc. The next quiz is 10 January 2015.

New Pavilion Lottery: Mrs Janet Pegg drew December’s winners. They were £50 Yvonne Bellhouse,£2o Jane Gillard, £15 Bill Coney, £10 Terry Gilbert and £5 Janet Thompson. New members are welcome to join . If you are stuck for a Christmas present idea a year’s subscription is only £12.

Bowls Club Christmas Party: Friday 19 December 7;30 in The Memorial Hall. Tickets are £8 per person which includes supper and live music by “Something Else”. The Club do not have a drinks licence so bring your own. everybody is welcome. contact Eric Butler on 01424 814869.
