Icklesham Village Stores will be closing on the Sunday (25th) and Monday(26th). But it continues to grow. It now has a license to sell alcohol.

Soon the results of the election to the European Parliament will be announced. We are in the South East but the constituency isn’t just West and East Sussex and Kent. It includes Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight,Oxfordshire and Surrey. There were 15 different parties to choose from but in the last European election only 5 parties had enough votes to have an M.E.P.

Last week Manston Airport closed and the final appeal against the expansion of Lydd Airport was unsuccessful. The effects on Icklesham are difficult to predict. Half a million people a year will increase road traffic. More aircraft noise. The Boeing, which may be most frequently used aircraft, is medium plane carrying about 200 passengers. The planes will be landing close to Dungeness Nuclear power station - in fact only about 60 seconds flying time away. Safety is always a concern.

This charity aims to open up the enjoyment of music and the performing arts to those who have hearing difficulties. The charity was founded by Dr Paul Whittaker O.B.E. who has been profoundly deaf since the age of eight.
