3 November Tomorrow Saturday 2 November the monthly Craft Fair is in the Memorial Hall from 10am to 2.30pm. Sunday 3 November 10.30. There’s a great variety of stalls all with interesting ideas for Christmas. Charity Christmas Cards,denim bags,wooden crafts, handmade Christmas decorations,warm hats,scarves and gloves and lots more. Refreshments are available and a warm welcome awaits. Plenty of free parking and a new children’s play area next to the Hall.

Tuesday 5 November The Robin Hood Bonfire Society always has its big night on the Fifth of November. It’s in the field next to the pub. Gates open 6.30. Procession followed by Firework Display and Lighting the Bonfire at 7.45. Licensed Bar,Hog Roast,BBQ and Hot drinks. Entrance is only £3 for adults and £2 for children.

Saturday 9 November Icklesham Art Group Exhibition in the Memorial Hall 10am -5pm. entry is free. Refreshments are available.

Sunday 10 November Remembrance Service attended by the local branch of the Royal British Legion.

Saturday 16 November Quiz Night in the Memorial Hall.

Saturday 23 Ricochet in concert 7.30 in the Hall. Tickets on sale £5.

Monday 25 November Icklesham Trust Committee A.G.M. 7.30 in the Memorial Hall but from 7.00 there will be wine and nibbles and an opportunity to meet and chat with committee members. The Trust is responsible for the Hall and the Pavilion and all Ickenham’s clubs and societies are represented on it.

Saturday 12 October Ann Rachlin M.B.E. of Windmill lane donated to Durham University the archive of her late husband Ezra. This rich resource included a wealth of letters,work,sheet music and photographic images. Ann is a Fellow of Grey College, one of the 18 colleges which form the third oldest English University. Ezra was a great concert pianist starting as a child prodigy at the age of 5 and then later became a conductor of many of the world’s major symphony orchestras. His friends and contemporaries included Yehudi Menuin, Leonard Bernstein , Sergei Rachmaninov and many more. Ezra died in 1995 aged 79. He was often in Icklesham and had a great fondness for this village. His work had taken him all over the world so this was a compliment to this small bit of East Sussex. Throughout October there has been an Exhibition of Ezra’s photography in Grey College. Ann was celebrating an important birthday and repaid her friends,her College colleagues and the students telling”Say It With Music” - the story of Irving Berlin with Iain Kerr arranging and playing the music whilst the college choir sang some of the Berlin standards. A superb performance which was enjoyed thoroughly by both the performers and the audience.

Sunday 27 November The Sponsored walk from Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier. This was fund raising for the New Pavilion.

Friday 25 October. The AGM of Icklesham Horticultural Society. The Chairman, Stuart Baker, thanked the Secretary Ann Osborne for all her hard work during the year. Everyone associated with the Society knows how true this is. All the shows were successful with exhibits of a high standard. The long hard cold winter meant there were not many plants for sale at the plant sale and Coffee Morning. The Chairman thanked Kate and Syd Mylrea and the Robin Hood for their continued support. He also thanked all those who have helped and supported the Society in 2013. The officers and committee are unchanged. In 2014 the subscription will still be £1 and for this you have a full schedule of all the shows. If you enjoy gardening or cooking for £1 you can plan to have a go next year.
