In August’s Parish Magazine is the following Cricket Report.

“It is with regret that I have to report that the Club has taken the decision to cancel the remaining fixtures for this season. This is mainly due to the fact that we were unable to raise a side and honour our fixtures.

We will arrange our A.G.M. in mid-October,once the date is confirmed, we will announce it here, in the Village Voice,and through emails and Facebook.

In the meantime, if anybody has any ideas how we can keep the club afloat, either bring them to the AGM or let me know.

The sun shone and the wind died down a little for the Icklesham Fete & Flower show on the 3rd August.

Mr Derek Baker opened the event, supported by his family. Derek was a former chairman of the Trust Committee and a great supporter of the annual event.

Derek then cut the ribbon, and a speech was made by the Chairman of Icklesham Parish Council Mr Peter Turner, to officially open the children’s play area, which is proving to be hugely popular.

Sited within the play area is a bench dedicated to Mrs Joan Baker, who along with her husband Derek was a dedicated supporter of the Fete & flower show.

The crowd were entertained throughout the afternoon by the Wealden Brass band, the delightful display from Rye Dance and the fun loving Oojah Kappivy, a lovely group of lady morris dancers.

The children enjoyed exploring the Pett Level Rescue Boat, Fire Engine and Police Car.

Despite the difficult start to the growing season, there were still some beautiful exhibits in the flower show.

The fun dog show attracted some very handsome exhibits including Fia, Oscar, Alfred,Treacle,Misty,Boris,Banjo, Diesel,Suki,Lexie, Osca, Ringo, Buster & Molly.

They were all well behaved and kept away from the popular ferret racing!

There are too many people to thank individually, but special thanks go to Sue & Mick Darcy for their very generous donation towards the food expenses and the loan of parking cones. To Ron and Lee for manning the BBQ, and Ian Mitchell for providing the licensed bar.

Grateful thanks to all who helped in anyway on the day, and to everyone who came, thank you all for your support.

Saturday 17 August Ann Rachlin will be giving a talk about Ellen Terry and her daughter Edith Graig and their time as stars of the silent movies between 1916 and 1922. The venue is of course the delightful theatre at Small Hythe. It starts at 5.30, tickets are £7.50 and are available from the National Trust 01580 762334. There will be clips from the siver screen.

Jade’s sister Jenna will be joining the Salon on Thursdays,Fridays and Saturdays ot add to the services on offer. Jenna has her NVQ 2 and 3 in Beauty Therapy and will offer waxing,manicures,pedicures,facials,massage,spray tan and eye treatment.Ring 01424 813333 for an appointment.

Icklesham Eye is the Icklesham Parish Council newsletter and has been delivered with the Rye Fixtures There are many opportunities to get involved. Buses,allotments,zip wires, the Stevenson bench,youth club ,traffic lights,floods etc.
