Tomorrow, Icklesham Fete and Flower Show starts on the Recreation Ground at 1pm. There are plenty of attractions for all the family including the popular Flower Show with classes for vegetables,cookery,handicrafts and floral displays. Throughout the afternoon there’s lots of entertainment with Rye Dance, Wealden Brass Band, Oojah Kappivy, a fun dog show, children’s races, apple bobbing, ferret racing, licensed bar, barbecue, plus ice cream and lots of side shows and craft stalls. If you want to join any of the village clubs this is a good way of meeting the people who run them. All are pleased to welcome new members.

The Presentation of trophies and prizes will take place after 4pm.

Wednesday 7 August 9am - 12noon a coffee morning in The Five Villages House in aid of St Michael’s Hospice. All are most welcome.

The report in last week’s village voice of the cricket played on Sunday 21 July was erroneous. Stuart Baker who pointed this out said: “Icklesham Cricket Club 88 Verdayne (Croydon) 137. Thanks to Adam Stunt for organising this game, it was good to see a game played on the recreation ground again. The match was very friendly but at the same time competitive,Icklesham fielded first and there were some good performances from Aaron Leech, Jamie Flood, Jason Englefield, Paddy Horton and Adam himself, when it was evident that there were many cobwebs that needed to be blown away,but overall as Club Chairman I was very pleased that we got a match played. Well done to all concerned.”

Wednesday 7 August. Multi-sports activities called Street Games are fun and free. Suitable for children aged eight and upwards they are from 5pm to 7pm. on the Recreation Ground. Sessions on all Wednesdays in August. Winchelsea Beach will have sessions on every Tuesday in August on the Harbour Field from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Icklesham Casuals are training for the 2013 - 2014 season on the recreation Ggound on Wednesdays at 6.30pm. If you would like to play just come along and have a chat.The Casuals run two teams in the local league.

The Highways Agency which controls A-roads has stopped Millside Nurseries from positioning a sign at the top of Broad Street, which says they sell free range eggs.

Many of us enjoy the treasures of Romney Marsh - its 14 ancient churches. From Monday 5 August to Saturday 10 August there is an exhibition of photographs of these churches by Dr Douglas Moss in St Mary’s Centre, Lion Street, Rye (near the church). Admission free.

The August Church Market will be on Saturday 17 August.
