Tomorrow (Saturday 8) our Canon Hugh Moseley will be cycling around Romney Marsh and its historic churches.

Any offers of sponsorship would be welcome. Sponsorship money will be divided between the Historic Churches Trust and Icklesham Parish Church.

English Heritage looked at All Saints and its report was enthusiastic about the church, its history and its architecture but the big worry was the damage caused by damp. Will the National Lottery Fund help? A case has been made for a grant.

Meanwhile, over £4,000 has been raised by the Tower Appeal Fund.

There is live music at the Queeens Head on Sunday 9 from 4pm - 6pm with Tea Chest Blues.

Don’t throw away plastic shopping bags! A useful way to recycle is to think local and drop them in to Icklesham Stores.

The last Church Market of a very successful year takes place a week tomorrow on Saturday September 15 from 1am - 3pm. There will be cakes, bric-a-brac and produce of offer and it is a great place to just chat, have a tea and coffee and cake, or even a light lunch.

The first Quiz Night is on Saturday September 22. Each quiz donates the proceeds to something in the village. This one is for church funds. Just arrange a team of up to six and entry is £2.50 per person.

Bring along your own food and drink and donations of raffle prizes are always appreciated.

The Queens Head Mini Beer Festival runs from Thursday September 20 - Sunday 23. It has 25 real ales and live music every day.

Icklesham Art Exbition takes place at the Memorial Hall today (Friday), Saturday and Sunday and there will be cheese and wine.

On Saturday September 22 there is a special fund raising day for St Michael’s Hospice in memory of Joan Baker which will be a sponsored run or walk around the recreation ground. Fancy dress can be worn and soft drinks and refreshments will be available for youngsters taking part.

At 11am - 2.30pm after the run, the Baker family are holding a jumble sale in the Memorial Hall, with cakes and a raffle.

Harvest is celebrated on the last weekend of this month.

On Friday 28 Harvest Supper will be held in the Memorial Hall at 7pm. Tickets for this lovely supper with wine are £7 and are available from Janet Pegg on 01424 814735.

Everyone is welcome to attend this friendly annual village event.

On Saturday 29, from 9.30am onwards, the church will be decorated for Harvest Festival. Everyone is welcome to come and help decorate or even do an arrangement. There are plenty of spaces to fill. Contact Janet Pegg if you wish to know more.

There is Harvest Thanksgiving and Family Eucharist at All Saints on Sunday 30 at 10.30am and Harvest Songs of Praise at 6pm.

Icklesham Casuals charity fund raising, to mark the club’s 75th anniversary, stands at £6,000, with the £7,500 target close,

Another fund raiisng event takes place at the Memorial Hall on Saturday November 10 when local band No Exit will be playing their fabulous mix of popular cover versions.

There will be a bar and tickets are £5 and can be obtained by either calling David Mayne on 01424 424986 or emailing the club at [email protected].

Icklesham sports clubs have launched a monthly draw with all the profits going to raise funds for the new pavilion.

The cost is only £1 a month with 50 percent of the profit being paid out in monthly prizes and the remainder going to the pavilion fund.
