The Diamond (not Golden) Jubilee celebrations in June commemorate 60 years of the Queen’s reign. She became Queen on the death of George VI in February 1952 and was crowned in June the following year. So June 2012 is an appropriate compromise time to celebrate. Village events will take place on Monday 4 June. The Parish Church will be decorated with flowers over that Jubilee weekend, with archives, photographs and registers on display. Have you any interesting photographs or Coronation memorabilia to loan? If you have contact Canon Hugh, one of the Churchwardens or Sylvia Archer 01797 224288.
