The last Church Market of 2010 made £273 and then those hard workers had a superb surprise when they heard that an anonymous donor promised to match whatever sum was raised. This means that the market’s total for the year was a great result -- £2839.45.

So thanks to everyone who supported these popular monthly events and thanks also to the mysterious and generous person. The next event is a seasonal get together on the Saturday morning before Christmas, December 18, and of course everybody will be very welcome.

Last Saturday the Horticultural Society held its Autumn Show in the School Hall. It thanks Mrs Higgs and her staff for their support, Carol Piggott for displaying the Art work and Martin, the caretaker for all his help.

The Chairman of the Icklesham Horticultural Society,Stuart Baker, says “I would like to take this opportunity to give notice or the Horticultural Society’s A.G.M. which will be held in the Memorial Hall on Friday 29 October at 7.30pm.

The A.G.M. was very poorly supported last year, so please make every effort to attend this year,

The Society has always boasted generous support from its members who have given raffle and tombola prizes etc. It has been apparent of late that this support is dwindling.

In years gone by the Society used to have a lot of help setting up and clearing up shows, this sadly is left now to the normal few.

In view of this, if members are unable to help and support the Society, the proposal at the A.G.M. will be to go back to one show a year (the summer one) as it originally began 24 years ago.

We are very fortunate to have a conscientious secretary in Ann Osborne. She is an asset that we all need to look after as without her tireless contributions we would not have a society.

To conclude on a positive note,I would like to thank everybody that supported the Autumn Show last Saturday at the School.’’
