Saturday’s Church Market attracted many people and raised £355. The next market is Saturday 21 April.

Today Lent Lunch in the Memorial Hall 12.30 - 2.00pm Do come along and enjoy soup, rolls and cheese with friends and neighbours and if you wish make a donation to a good cause. Today’s charity is the Royal National Institute for the Blind. Last week £150 was donated to the Seaview Project Hastings.

Saturday 31 march Easter Craft Fair in the Memorial Hall 10.00am - 2.30 pm with lots of different locally made arts and crafts. Free parking just of the A259 and refreshments are available. An excellent time as you can come along either in the morning or in the afternoon. It’s in aid of Hall And Pavilion funds. The person to contact is Sandra Stunt 01424 814401.

Saturday 21 April The Robin Hood Bonfire Society is hosting its annual Over 60s Party in the Memorial Hall starting at 2pm. Guests will be treated to food, drink and entertainment. Pale green, a long tail, a loud screech and a hooked rose-red beak make a ring-necked parakeet easy to recognise. One was spotted last week on a tree by the roadside near the Church. This bird of tropical woods arrived mysteriously in Surrey about 20 years ago and is now there in large numbers and roosts often having more than 100 noisy residents. They are beginning to move to other parts of Britain and have even got into Wales. They may compete for sites with starlings who are already decreasing in numbers. Another bird now in the national top 10 which has established itself is the Collared Dove . It first nested here in 1955. Other familiar creatures which have been introduced include Pheasants( middle Ages), both types of rat, rabbits (after the Norman Conquest) and grey squirrels (about 1850). The list of introduced plants is very long too. Anything coming into an environment affects it.

Last Saturday’s Quiz Night raised over £300 for our Stoolball Club. Stuart Baker thanks everybody who supported the quiz and especially thanks Donna, Hannah and Mags. There were14 teams and the winners were Icklesham Casuals. Then in descending order Nobby’s Nuts, The 30 Somethings, Stalybridge Celtic, the Fab 5, One Out All Out, and Highfords Hooligans. The next Quiz Night is Saturday 14 April when as part of the Football Club’s 75th Anniversary money will be raised for Icklesham Casuals.

Would a Paypoint service be useful to you? If the Icklesham Village Store had one trips to the bank or posting a cheque would no longer be needed. All major utility bills could be paid more easily. The Store would like to provide the service but has to supply the number of people who would use it. Fill in a confidential form to say you would use the local Paypoint and give it to the Store. Forms are available there. Only if there are sufficient completed forms can the Stores apply to have a Paypoint and they have to returned by 31 March.
