Abingworth, New England Lane

Well, it did and it didn’t. Rain, I mean.

After Friday’s thunderstorms, proud spirits must have quailed a bit but Saturday morning was fine, and the crowds came flocking in as usual. It really was all the fun of the fair for all ages. At present the total of money raised is not known, nor can I tell you who the winners of various things were. More will become clearer soon.

It was just such a pity that one of those short, sharp showers made its presence felt about 3pm wetting all the revellers. But it soon cleared and the sun came out again.

Iden village organisations benefit so much from all the money raised at this event, it is to be hoped that takings were as good as usual.

The wonderful pop-in coffee morning will be held in the Village Hall on Monday from 11 m until 1.30pm. During this time, the mobile library will be there from 12.05pm until 12.45pm. So you have the opportunity to meet friends, enjoy a cup of coffee and exchange your books all in the same outing.

The mid-week services continue in the church on Wednesday at 9.30am for Morning Prayer and 3.30pm for Evening Prayer.

The 9.30am service for the tenth Sunday after Trinity will be a Family Service led by the Vicar, the Rev Teresa Munro.
