Iden village voice

Apparently it just never rains on Fete Day and never has. The crowds came out, the food stalls did a roaring trade, also ice-creams; the falcons flew; the dogs paraded and a jolly good time was had by all. I particularly enjoyed the Steel Band which accompanied the scones, jam and cream.

An advance date you may wish to book is the week-end of 29/30 September, when the Flower Festival will be held. This will coincide with Harvest Festival, with the Supper on Saturday.

Jempsons have asked me to advise anyone who uses their Shopper Bus that there is going to be a timetable change. It will run through Iden every Wednesday calling at The Bell, although it will stop anywhere if it is safe to do so. Return fare is £1. The time-table enclosed shows Iden at 10.37 am, return departing Jempsons at 12 noon. It is a ‘Hail and Ride’ service. If the bus goes past your house, be there outside in good time, put up your hand and the bus will pick you up.

The Mobile Library will be at the village hall on Monday from 12.05 to 12.45. Remember that you could meet a friend for coffee any time from 11 am to 1 pm as well as change your books. Just pop into the hall for coffee/tea and a biscuit.

The mid-week services are as usual at 9.30am and 3.30 pm on Wednesday.

The 9.30 am service for the 9th after Trinity will be Family Communion led by the vicar.
