Inclusive panto performance to be held at Horsham’s Capitol

This year’s pantomime at The Capitol in Horsham is Peter Pan, and the relaxed performance will be held a on Wednesday December 18 at 6.30pm and all seats will be £10 per person.

The performance essentially keeps the same format and performance as other nights but with additional support and resources available.

During the performance a British Sign Language interpreter will be on stage and details of when loud noises or audience interaction takes place during the show will be made available, with additional stewards on hand to help where necessary.

Most importantly the environment and atmosphere will be supportive, understanding and friendly with the audience and staff all confident and aware of others’ needs.

This year the pantomime features Steven Arnold, who played Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street, as Smee.

Steven is joined by Benjamin Pomeroy as Peter Pan along with a host of other great actors and actresses.

Sue Rogers (Con, Steyning), HDC’s cabinet member for a safer and healthier district, said: “Pantomime is meant to be fun; it’s exuberant, lively, loud and bright with audience interaction and slap stick comedy however this can cause issues for some people on the autistic spectrum and with learning disabilities.

“To keep the pantomime as inclusive as possible Horsham District Council and The Capitol have once again organised a relaxed performance of this year’s pantomime – Peter Pan.

“This means that families and carers of children and people on the autistic spectrum, with sensory disorders or a learning disability, who might find a pantomime performance daunting can plan a trip to the theatre in confidence.”

The assisted access scheme does not apply for this performance.
