Indian Ocean rowing race - Row4Charity update

The Row4Charity team clocked up its first 1,000 miles this week and continues to galvanise Bexhill with its impressive achievement in the Indian Ocean rowing race 2009.

After suffering a series of setbacks including loss of sat nav and laptop communication, the Bexhill Trust Challenger remains in contention as it heads towards Mauritius.

Team spokesman Geoff Dixon said: "Thankfully this has been a good week where the boys have been able to concentrate on their rowing and have now completed over 1,000 nautical miles, a third of the Indian Ocean behind them.

"Ian Allen celebrated his 25th birthday but was under strict instructions not to go out celebrating.

"The boys currently still hold second place and in a field of seasoned ocean rowers

this on its own is a great achievement.

"They are having to learn as they go, with no experiences of their own to call on, and are taking on every challenge set them and proving themselves to be a serious 'challenger' to the race favourites.

"The Bexhill Trust Challenger crew seem to be attracting quite a fan base judging by the messages left for them on the race website, (www.indianoceanrowingrace09.com) please keep the messages coming."
