INMATES WORK ON DISPLAY

A thought provoking exhibition of art by the inmates of Lewes Prison, called 'Time Well Spent', is to go on show at the Thebes Gallery in Lewes from January 20 until February 3.

This is the fifth year such an exhibition has taken place, following the birth of the project in 2003.

The show, initiated by the prison's Education Department, is run in conjunction with Lewes District Council Cultural Services Department.

The work undertaken at Lewes Prison is valuable to prisoners, as it builds up their confidence and self-esteem; it often leads back into education and helps put them on the path to rehabilitation.
