Inquest opened into soldier's death

AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a Sussex soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Paratrooper Daniel Gamble, 22, from Piltdown Rise, Uckfield, became the 100th British soldier to be killed in the current military campaign when his patrol was hit by a suicide bomber on June 8.

Today (Thursday) the inquest was formally opened at Trowbridge, Wiltshire and adjourned to a date to be fixed.

On Monday (June 16) Daniel's body was flown back to RAF Lyneham in WIltshire.
