“As well as doggie attractions, there will also be a range of stalls to browse, selling books, delicious refreshments and much more. Younger visitors can enjoy meeting some real live alpacas as well as having their faces painted, perhaps as their favourite animals.

Maria Marmo, Blue Cross centre manager in Northiam, said: “It’s shaping up to be a great open day this year and we’d love as many people as possible to come and join us.

“The dog show is always a real highlight and we especially love seeing dogs we’ve re-homed coming back for a visit. We couldn’t keep going without events like these and the help of our fantastic supporters - every pound we raise helps us to help more homeless pets.”

Money raised at the open day will go towards helping animals like Oliver, a charming seven-year-old cat that who is always happy to meet new people. Oliver loves having a fuss and being groomed and enjoys sitting on a nice warm lap. He would love to find a happy new indoor home with new owners who have lots of time to spend with him.
