It's all going swimmingly at new centre

A TOPPING-OUT ceremony has been held to mark the structural completion of Billingshurst's new swimming pool.

The event is traditional in the construction industry to celebrate such an important stage with the ceremony by blessing the building with good luck, and Saxon traditions of sprinkling oil, corn, wine and salt were followed.

Horsham District Council joined construction firm Willmott Dixon for the topping-out ceremony.

The new pool, together with the existing Weald Recreation Centre facilities, will in future be known as Billingshurst Leisure Centre.

This means that Billingshurst and the west of the Horsham district will have a new 25m, four-lane indoor pool '“ with movable floor '“ in place by September this year.
