It's the speedy response police!

POLICE in Bexhill will move around in style, having taken charge of a new motorcycle.

The 250cc Honda, sponsored by JS Gedge, will be used to give members of the neighbourhood policing team a visible presence on the streets and a faster way of dealing with crime in the area.

PC Alan Green met with Trevor Gedge at the motorcycle centre in St Leonards, on Tuesday, to take charge of the vehicle.

PC Green said: "On behalf of myself and the Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing Team I would like to thank Mr Trevor Gedge and his company for their generosity in sponsoring this motorcycle for use by my colleagues and I.

"It will be used for patrol and enquiries in Bexhill Town and the more outlying parts of the division.

"This handy flexible transport will speed up the way in which enquiries are made, assisting us in our goal of more detected crimes.

"It will also provide a visible police presence at the same time and is one of the best examples of partnership working between the police and local partnership I can think of. It is an excellent effort."
