Jenny said: “I Managed to get round in 4 hours 57.

“I ran it in five hours 11 last year so I was very pleased to beat my target time.

“It was another amazing day with probably the noisiest and most supportive crowd ever up there brought out by the sunshine.

My fundraising now is over £ 2,100 which is another target beaten as I had to raise at least £ 1,600.

“I was very lucky to have good support from Rye Runners for the running and from Michael Gregory and Pete and Judith at Salts Farm Shop where I work.

“I would also like to thank all the customer for the fundraising support as well as many family and friends.”

Also running the London Marathon, from the Rye area was Jane Elcombe who took on the challenge to raise money for Peasmarsh based charity the Oliver Curd Trust, set up in memory of Oliver, who lost his battle with a rare bone cancer, aged nine, in 2007.

The charity provides respite holidays for families of seriously ill children.
