Jenny heads offto Peru

A Felpham woman is set to improve children's lives in South America.

Jenny Holmes will be spending two months in Peru from the end of August working voluntarily with young people.

She hopes to be based in an orphanage or a junior school.

She expects to work in the capital, Lima, and a city called Ayucucho.

Jenny (24), of Outerwyke Road, said: 'I've wanted to get involved with this sort of experience for a long time. I did some youth work in Somerset, working with young people who had just come out of care, before I went to university.

'I want to see the world, experience different cultures and make a difference to peoples' lives.

'I studied anthropology at university and Peru looks like a really interesting place to visit.

'Lima is quite developed but other areas of the country are not.'

Jenny is holding a table top sale at 10am this Saturday at Jubilee Hall in Shrubbs Drive, Middleton, to help to raise funds for her journey to South America.

She has raised about 3,500 of the estimated 4,500 which she expects.

Much of the money has come through her work dispensing prescriptions at Boots in Bognor as well other fundraising activities.

Anyone who would like to contribute towards her voluntary work should e-mail her on jenny.holmes@ lineone.net or phone her: 01243 864437.
