Burpham Cricket Club was given £1,500 towards replacing its equipment store.

The one it is currently using was built in 1935.

The 1st Barnham Scout Group was granted the same amount, which will help the organisation purchase a new mess tent.

Charity Action for Deafness, which operates across the country, and holds regular hearing aid maintenance clinics, manned by volunteers, was given £678, to help with its development costs.

Christina Coleman, chairman of the committee’s county council members, said: “There are many organisations on our area that play a valuable role in their communities.

“This fund enables us to assist their work in a practical and positive way.”
