Jordan has chance to become an actor in America

A FELPHAM performing arts student has the chance to become an actor in New York.

Jordan Ashmore has been offered a place next September at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts’ school for film and television.

She said: “It’s amazing to be offered a place. They don’t take many international students.

“There were a lot of people at the auditions in London in August. I had to perform two different monologues and have an interview.”

Former Felpham Community College student Jordan, 18, is studying for a Btec at Northbrook College. She will follow this by crossing the Atlantic next summer if she can raise some £20,000 for her first of two years in New York.

This is after she was awarded a £12,000 scholarship. She is working in Tesco at weekends and has asked businesses to help her as well as planning a sponsored skydive next March.

Her stepfather and brother will be holding a sponsored golf day for her next June.

Jordan said the chance to study at the conservatory was one not to be missed. “It’s well-known in America and one of the best.

“It’s a great opportunity to get into an acting career.”

Jordan is playing one of the main parts of Northbrook’s
play this month. She said: “I like being on stage and becoming different people.”
