PRINCE William and his bride weren't the only ones going down the aisle on Friday - but whereas they walked, members of Bexhill's Classic Cycling Group were invited to pedal their way towards the altar on a visit to St Barnabas' Church, Sea Road, to celebrate the Royal Wedding.

Pedalling slowly, with both bikes and riders in suitably patriotic attire, they then dismounted to enjoy coffee and to join all present to watch the ceremony at Westminster Abbey on a big screen set up within the church.

Next the group rode off westwards to the Cooden Beach Hotel before returning to the town centre for an appearance at a street party in Victoria Road.

From there it was down to the seafront to indulge in a “Right Royal Picnic” at the Edwardian shelter on De La Warr Parade. Ray Konyn, the group’s events co-ordinator, said: “It was a great day, great fun and we certainly enjoyed playing our part in all the festivities.”
