King Offa six mile walk

That's the right stuff - a hardy bunch of pupils, parents and staff from King Offa primary school set off on a six-mile sponsored walk on Sunday morning.

They left school between 9.30-10am with the aim of walking to Crowhurst and back, hoping to raise money for the upkeep of the school swimming pool.

Each participant was given a raffle ticket on registration with the idea on their return they would discover if they had won a soft toy prize.

The event was organised by school secretary Susan Courtnell and caretaker Terry Cutting with other staff members taking part, including deputy head Sue Conaway.

Terry commented: "It is in aid of the school swimming pool and we have done this several times in the past, to raise money for the upkeep of the pool. The children can go halfway if they wish and then be picked up, but some kids do the full six miles and everyone can take advantage of a lovely day by having a picnic.

"We do get good support from parents - the last time we did this we raised 1,800, which was three years ago."
