'˜Lad in a Manger' Yapton panto fun

Yapton and Ford Village Hall hosted a special festival performance.

A one-night-only performance of ‘A Lad in a Manger’ was held on Saturday, November 26.

Tim Bell, press officer for St Mary’s, Yapton, said: “Every seat was taken and the children had sat on the floor at the rib-tickling one-night-only performance of ‘A Lad in a Manger’.

“It was the much-loved story of the birth of Jesus with a hilarious pantomime twist, but it kept the sensitivity.

“There were two Dames, a lovable donkey, the Angel of the North and the child-hating but sweets-loving Herod.

“The show was directed by Aaron Morrissey and Dean Holden, with musical direction by Tracey Hayes and Mark Taylor handled the sound and lighting. St Mary’s church choir did the backings for the vocals. The cast also featured the Revd Bill Garlick as the evil King Herod (or Hairpiece as they called him).

“The Rector, Revd Richard Hayes played a very rustic and musical Shepherd.”

David Rainer played the role of Jo (Joseph) and Lesley Vigar performed as Mary. Aaron Morrissey starred as Widow Aggie and Rob Allison as Widow Kim, the cleaners.
