Lakins say their goodbyes at breakfast

A farewell has tinged with sadness one of the most popular events in the calendar of Bognor Regis Twinning Association.

The latest annual Beaujolais Breakfast was the last social occasion John and Ann Lakin will attend.

John has been the group's secretary for the past eight years. Ann was a member of its social committee.

But the couple's links with the group are ending because they are moving to the Midlands to be nearer their family.

As a mark of appreciation of their services, association chairman Allison Merriman presented them with a signed card wishing them well in the future and a book token.

A total of 39 members enjoyed the breakfast in the home of founder members of the association, Wilf and Dora Archer, to celebrate the first bottles of the new French wine.

Among those sitting down to enjoy the alcoholic start to the day was the president of the association, Bognor's MP Nick Gibb.
