Lancing charity cheat sentenced

A HOSPITAL worker stole cash from kind-hearted colleagues who thought they were paying towards her dying brother-in-law's dream holiday.

Nicola Relf, 38, of Warren Court, Sompting Road, Lancing, collected 145 from co-workers at Worthing Hospital after saying she was doing a sponsored swim.

But the swim never took place and, although he suffers from cerebral palsy, her brother-in-law is not terminally ill.

Relf admitted five charges of theft and asked for a further 19 to be taken into account at Worthing Magistrates' Court on Friday, November 20.

She was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay 120 costs.
