Lancing ‘explosion’: Spectacular drone footage shows firefighters tackling huge blaze

Eight fire engines were called to the scene after a fire started in a scrap metal yard shortly after 1pm.

The huge blaze has been visible from miles around, with pictures taken from as far away as Southwick and the South Downs.

This spectacular drone footage shows firefighters tackling the flames, with surrounding roads cordoned off and neighbouring buildings evacuated.

Social media has been awash with footage and pictures of the fire and a spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said they had already received more than 65 999 emergency calls.
