Lewes’ Star Brewery Gallery presents its fifth Artwave exhibition
September dates
Lewes’ Star Brewery Gallery presents its fifth Artwave exhibition, bringing together 19 contemporary artists as part of the annual Artwave Festival (September 5-20).
The gallery can be found in Castle Ditch Lane, Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 1DD, opening
Wednesday-Friday from 11:00-16:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 10:30-16:30.
Curated by gallery owner and artist Neeta Pedersen, the exhibition brings together artists working across a range of styles and mediums: “The exhibition features a diverse selection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, digital art and photography, showcasing artists working across a broad range of styles, subjects and creative approaches.
“From landscapes and townscapes to abstract, nature-inspired and more illustrative, story-driven works, the exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to discover the individual imagination, skill and vision of each participating artist.”
The exhibiting artists are: Peter Messer, Paul Newland, Rosie Good, Mark Munroe-Preston, Marc Gooderham, John Ball, Sarah Money, Amelia Rowcroft, Nichola Campbell, Peter Kettle, Marcus Cherrill, Claire Hoskin, Hiroko Lewis, Rachael Stedman, David C Nix, Carolyn Watson, Philippa Futrell and Neeta Pedersen.
Neeta added: “I usually curate tightly themed exhibitions, but for this show I wanted to leave the theme open. It gave me the freedom to bring together artists whose work I find particularly exciting, allowing each artist’s individual style and creative voice to come through. I wanted the exhibition to feel varied, unexpected and engaging, with something to interest every visitor.
“I am very excited to be hosting this exhibition and taking part in the Artwave Festival once again. Artwave is such a wonderful event for the town and the wider area, giving artists an opportunity to showcase their work while allowing visitors to discover an incredible variety of art across Lewes and beyond. It creates a real sense of connection between artists, galleries, studios and audiences, and I am delighted that the Star Brewery Gallery can be part of it.”
Previous Artwave exhibitions at the Star Brewery Gallery, including The River Show, The Art of Biodiversity and The Art of Life, have explored environmental themes while celebrating the creativity of artists and offering audiences different perspectives on the natural world. Last year’s As Time Goes By celebrated five years of the Star Brewery Gallery, marking an important milestone in the gallery’s journey.
The exhibition runs from 5–20 September as part of the Artwave Festival.
“Admission is free, offering visitors the opportunity to discover a varied collection of contemporary paintings, sculptures, drawings, digital art and photography.”
