Life in the fast lane for Felpham grandmother

Life on two wheels is fun for Felpham gran Angela Nelson.

She can claim to be the oldest scooterist in the area.

Being 71-year-old fails to stop her climbing aboard her scooter to go to the beach or around the streets close to her home.

“It’s good fun,” she said.

“My husband will walk alongside me while I’m on the scooter.

People are getting used to seeing me out and about on it now.”

Mrs Nelson’s taste for the one-legged method of travelling started when she was meeting her grandson, Hadley Long, six, from Rose Green Infant School to take him home to the Aldwick Bay estate on Mondays.

She hopped on board his scooter, which had been adapted for an adult, for the journey of a mile or so and found she didn’t want to get off.

Micro Scooter readily agreed to supply her with an adult version when the firm found out about her exploits.

“Everyone at the school knows me as Scooter Gran,” she said.

“It’s normal for the children to see me on it.”
