Lifeguard's quick thinking praised

A seven-year-old boy had to be resuscitated at a Pagham swimming pool.

The boy was given emergency treatment on the spot at Church Farm Holiday Village before emergency services could reach the seafront site.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said the alarm was raised at 11.52am on August 28.

“The boy was in need of medical attention having been rescued from a swimming pool and being unresponsive.

“He was, thankfully, resuscitated by a lifeguard. We would like to commend the lifeguard for his or her quick thinking. It is vital to act quickly in those circumstances,” he said.

The paramedics took the boy to St Richard’s Hospital.
