Former Portsmouth player Linvoy Primus was just one of the special guests who popped by when Yapton Holiday Club returned for its 21st year.

Once again the Big Top returned to the village green to play host to some 150 five to 11-year-olds looking for a week of fun. Organised by Yapton Free Church and St Mary’s Church, youngsters from Barnham, Bognor Regis, Climping, Eastergate, Littlehampton, Middleton, Slindon and Walberton and of course Yapton all had a great time.

Yapton Pastor Hugo Van Driel said: “It provides a great foundation for learning and friendship. This year there has been something for everyone from mothers and toddlers, the five to 11-year-olds, senior citizens who were treated to a cream tea, and for youth who took part in a five-a-side competition and were treated to a special visit from Linvoy Primus.”

Linvoy told the children how Christianity had turned his life around, gave a few footballing tips and was on hand to present the children with their prizes in front of a packed audience of parents.

But Linvoy was not the only special guest as Alan the Astronaut flew in for the occasion with one of his alien friends. He poses questions about the meaning of life, and even asked pastor Van Driel which planet he was from.

The fun, which took place during the last week of July, also featured clowning around, a tug of war, and the odd soaking.
