Littering Camber costs culprit £745

A MUSIC festival reveller who littered a Camber street has been hit with £745 in fines and costs.

Camber PCSO Dan Bevan came across a vehicle parked at Pelwood Road, in March this year,

Four people were asleep in the car and the road and grass verge outside was littered with empty Jack Daniels bottles and other debris. They had been to a music weekender event at nearby Pontins.

PCSO Bevan made them clear up the litter and said: “They apologised and cleared up the mess but after I left they just threw it back down again.

“I spoke to a man, who admitted responsibility, and issued him with a £75 fixed penal fine for littering.”

The fine was never paid and this resulted in Adam Arnold, 20, of Hounslow, London, appearing at Hastings Magistrates Court last week where he was fined £500, ordered to pay £230 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

PCSO Bevan said: “Causing that mess was unacceptable. The stupid thing is that if he had paid that fine within 14 days he could have paid it at a reduced rate of £50.”
